Biography
Masami Takahata began studying Piano at an early age in her native Japan. She received a Bachelors of Music in Piano performance from the Musashino Academia Musicae. During her studies she was awarded a distinguished Teacher’s Certificate from the Japanese government. While living in Tokyo, she taught as an Advanced System Teacher at the Yamaha Music School.
After moving to the U.S. Masami continued to instruct beginning to advanced children and adult pianists. Under her guidance her students have placed in various piano competitions such as the SCJBF Bach Festival, CAPMT District 3 Sonata/Sonatina Competition, JMAC, and more. She actively participates in the MTAC Certificate of Merit Evaluations and The Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) Certificate Program. Her students have been invited to perform at USC, and most recently, one of her students received a piano scholarship to Brown University.
Masami patiently examines all of her students, and caters to their individual needs. She can teach solfege, ear training, theory, and pitch training in both English and Japanese. Currently, Masami teaches various levels of students privately, and at Westside Music Conservatory.
